Joel Hughes is an assistant professor of psychology at KSU. He received his bachelors degree in psychology at Biola University (1992), his masters degree in clinical psychology at The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (1996), and his doctorate in clinical psychology at The Ohio State University (2001). Joel completed an APA approved internship in psychology at the Durham Veterans Affairs Medical Center and a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Duke University Medical Center. His doctoral mentor was Catherine Stoney and his post-doctoral mentor was Andrew Sherwood.

Joel started at KSU in 2003. He teaches graduate (e.g., Clinical Research Methods) and undergraduate (e.g., Research Methods, Quantitative Methods) courses at KSU. He is licensed as a psychologist in the state of Ohio and supervises clinical psychology graduate students in the Psychology Clinic in Kent Hall. He is a research consultant at SUMMA Health System’s Cardiovascular Health and Rehabilitation Research Institute and has Affiliate Staff privileges at Summa Health System in the Department of Cardiology.
